My name is Mrs. Julie Barnes, and I am fortunate to have been teaching in Comstock Park Public Schools for 20 years. I have taught third grade, fifth grade, and this year will be my 14th year teaching 4th grade! I can honestly say I love all three grade levels, and the unique personalities of each age group, but fourth grade is my absolute favorite grade to teach!! Your children really do learn and mature a great deal during these critical years. That being said, what I've learned all students need, regardless of age, is high expectations, guidance, and a listening ear. Thank you so much for sharing your child with me this year!
About my family . . . My husband John and I live in Comstock Park with our dog Moxie, and two cats Samantha and James. I am a graduate of Grand Valley State University, majoring in Group Science and I also have a Master's Degree in Reading. John keeps very busy with his job as a freelance journalist and writer. Our four children are all graduates of Comstock Park High School, as am I! Our son, Mike, is a Senior Engineer for Lockheed Martin, in Syracuse, New York, Tyler is a Physical Therapist in Salt Lake City, Utah, Katie is a Public Relations Specialist for Amway, and our youngest son, Brian, will be finishing his Economic degree this fall at Hope College. As you can see, education is a big part of our life, and we value it dearly!
